Introduction
My name is Rachel Wyn. I am currently a full time student aspiring to be a designer and scientist. I am double majoring in Environmental Design with an emphasis on Sustainable Planning, and Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. I strive to incorporate equity and and sustainability into each and every project. I strongly believe this type of interdisciplinary outlook toward design is a vital aspect of building a successful future in the midst of widespread climatic changes.

Academic Path
My academic path up to this point has been unique. I began my college education my junior year of High School through a program called Middle College at Foothill Community College in California. From there, I graduate a year early and remained at Foothill another two semesters. During my spring quarter of my last year at foothill, I decided to study abroad. I ended up spending 2 months on an Island named Carriacou where I earned my Dive Master certification and learned how to maintain and out plant coral nurseries along with conducting a plethora of marine survey tactics. That summer, I returned to the Caribbean to take a college level Marine Affairs & Ecology class while living and diving on a boat. This is where I got my first introduction to the field of atmospheric ocean interactions in the context of climate and ecology. The following fall [2019] I started attending CU Boulder as an Environmental Design major, before adding an Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences major this past fall [2020]. I then fell in love with both Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and Environmental Design. As my interdisciplinary knowledge base continued to develop, I started to notice how my designs improved and became more meaningful in response to climatic, environmental and social considerations. That is how I came to truly appreciate and value the benefits of multidisciplinary thinking and collaboration.
